In Victoria a certificate of Roadworthiness is needed for the following reasons :
- Transferring a registration to another person or state– This usually happens if you sell your vehicle to someone or if you are planning to move to another state. It is required be the law to get your roadworthy certificates in such cases.
- Re-registering and unregistered vehicle in Victoria– If you do not renew your registration every year, you cannot legally drive your vehicle. A roadworthy certificate is required to register your unregistered vehicle again.
- Buying or Selling Vehicle– All registered light vehicles will need to pass a road safety inspection before they can be sold.
- Vehicle defect notice – In some circumstances, a certificate of roadworthiness is required to clear a vehicle defect notice issued by relevant authority.

How long is the certificate valid?
A roadworthy certificate is current or valid for 30 days from the date of issue. It is during this period that the vehicle should be presented for transfer or re-registration processes.
How long does it take?
A roadworthy certificate inspection usually take 2-3hours once started.
1. Once the first inspection carried out, vehicle with defects are itemized in the first examination report and result will be displayed as fail.
2. Vicroads(secretary) allow us 14 days to clear any defects and resubmit for second inspection with in 14days period of time.
3. After the second inspection, all the rectified defects will be pictured and submitted to Vicroads in order to achieve a successful certificate of roadworthiness.
IMP NOTE: All the customers are advised to book second inspections asap with in 14days.
